(Eagle News) – Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II urged National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) consultants who had earlier been temporarily released by the Philippine government to report back to the government as a matter of courtesy.
Aguirre said that the bail given to them was not indefinite, so it is incumbent upon the communist leaders to report back to the government, if they want to renew their bail bond.
President Duterte has already ordered the arrest of NDF leaders who had been earlier given temporary liberty so they could be able to attend the peace negotiations first in Oslo, Norway, and then in Rome, Italy.
“Whether the peace talks would continue, dapat magreport muna sila. Hindi naman indefinite yung bail na yun e. kung tapos na yung 6 months, dapat mag-renew sila. Pag walang renewal, considered na wanted sila kung hindi nagrenew,” Justice Secretary Aguirre said.
Aguirre said that as a sign of good faith, the President had ordered the temporary release of the NDF consultants in August.
-PNP ready to arrest NDF consultants-
The Philippine National Police (PNP) meanwhile said it was ready to arrest the NDF consultants as ordered by the President.
“The President has given the orders to arrest upon entry to the Philippine soil ‘yung mga NDF consultants na andun sa abroad,” PNP chief Ronald Dela Rosa said.
The NDF consultants who had been ordered arrested are the following:
• Wilma and Benito Tiamzon,
• Vic Ladlad,
• Afelberto Silva,
• Alfonso Jazmines,
• Alfredo Mapano,
• Loida Magpatoc,
• Pedro Cudaste,
• Ruben Saluta,
• Ernesto Lorenzo,
• Porferio Tuna,
• Renante Gamara, and
• Tirso Alcantara
Dela Rosa said the PNP would just look for the communist consultants who have already returned to the country.
“Yung mga nakauwi hanapin na lang natin dito at dito na arestuhin sa Pilipinas,” he said. (with a report from Erwin Temperante, Eagle News Service)
