“Karding” maintains strength

(Eagle News)–“Karding”maintained its strength as it continued to move in an east, northeast direction, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said early Thursday.

In its recent advisory, PAGASA said that as of 10 p.m., the center of the tropical storm was 1255 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour, as it moves in an east northeastward direction at 10 kph.

“Karding” is not expected to make any landfall in the country, but it may enhance, together with the low pressure area estimated 850 kilometers west of northern Luzon, the southwest monsoon, bringing scattered to moderate widespread heavy rains over northern and central Luzon, especially over the western section, beginning this Friday.

“Karding” is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday evening.
