Kuwait prince among those executed in Kuwait, along with Filipina OFW

Kuwait’ State News Agency, KUNA, has confirmed the execution of a Prince in the ruling Al-Sabah family, the first execution incident of a member of the royal family in the Gulf state.

The prince was hanged along with Filipina OFW Jakatia Pawa and five other prisoners who have been hanged in the mass execution in Kuwait at 3:19 in the afternoon (Philippine Time) on Wednesday, January 25.

The prince was identified as Sheikh Faisal Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah and was convicted for premeditated murder and illegal possession of a firearm. According to Kuwaiti newspapers, the prince was sentenced to death for killing his nephew and another prince in 2010.

The six others executed include a Bangladeshi, two Egyptians, a Filipina, a Kuwaiti and an Ethiopian.

Al Jazeera also reported that another Kuwaiti was hanged on Wednesday. She was Nusra al-Enezi, who was found guilty for setting fire to a tent in 2009 during a wedding party for her husband, killing around 57 people, including women and children.

It was an apparent act of revenge against her husband for taking a second wife.

This incident was perceived as one of the most devastating crimes in the history of Kuwait.

On the other hand, Jakatia Pawa, a Filipina domestic worker in Kuwait was convicted for allegedly stabbing her employer’s 22-year-old daughter several times while asleep on May 2007, inspite of her innocence plea until the very last minute of her life.

Just like Pawa, an Ethiopian domestic worker was also convicted of the same criminal charge in an unrelated case.

A Bangladeshi was also executed for the crime of abduction and rape, and two Egyptians were also hanged after a conviction of premeditated murders.

The last hanging happened four years ago when a Pakistani, an Arab and a man without citizenship were hung in Kuwait.
