Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz urges the public to learn more about R.A. 10361, otherwise known as the Domestic Workers Act, or Batas Kasambahay.
Domestic workers, or kasambahay, employers, recruitment agencies, DOLE partners in government, and civil society organizations can access e-learning course on Batas Kasambahay via elearning.dole.gov.ph, the e-learning portal of the DOLE Labor Governance Learning Center.
In a statement, Baldoz said that the DOLE, through the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns, has come up with an e-Learning Introductory Course on Batas Kasambahay to make the provisions of the law accessible to more domestic workers.
The online course seeks to educate domestic workers and their employers, as well as private employment agencies, about the salient features of the Batas Kasambahay.
It covers the following topics: coverage; benefits; rights and privileges of kasambahay; and duties and responsibilities of employers.
Baldoz said that all the kasambahay needs to do is to go to the nearest DOLE office, or to any Internet cafe or computer shop and enrol online.
“The kasambahay can also do the course in the comfort of home if the kasambahay has a laptop or desktop computer,” Baldoz said.
“The online course is accessible and easy to understand. It will be less of a hassle for domestic workers to learn the law for they need not go to formal schooling to study the subject,” Baldoz added.
Those who wish to access the Batas Kasambahay e-Learning Course can follow the simple steps below:
(1) Click on the folder icon, “Enhancing Social Protection of Vulnerable Workers”;
(2) The page will open to another page with a folder icon, “Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns Courses” which, when clicked, will open to the course, Introduction to Batas Kasambahay (Domestic Workers Act).
(3) At the homepage, there is an icon, “Courses” below which is a clickable “Enrol” action tab. If the kasambahay wishes to enrol in the course, she has to click this action tab. (DOLE/RJB/SDL/PIA-NCR)
