(Eagle News)—Senator Panfilo Lacson on Thursday, May 3, apologized to Senate President Koko Pimentel over his remark there would be a change in Senate leadership possibly within the year.
“An apology is in order and is therefore offered to SP Pimentel,” Lacson said on Twitter, after Pimentel denied he and Senate Majority Leader Tito Sotto had an agreement about the supposed leadership change, as claimed by Lacson.
According to Lacson, “it was my understanding that a leadership change in the Senate between him and Senator Sotto does exist,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Lacson said he was “privy” to the agreement, which he said could be enforced in July or October.
Sotto has said he would be open to assuming the Senate presidency if it was offered to him.
