(Eagle News)–Senator Panfilo Lacson on Saturday, July 6, said a former general who had a dispute with the slain Tanauan, Batangas Mayor Antonio Halili had plans of running as chief executive of that city.
In a radio interview, Lacson said this was revealed to him by Halili himself before he was killed on Monday, July 2.
“Natatandaan ko ikinuwento niya actually medyo may pag-aalala siya nun kasi alam niyang may kapasidad ang dating heneral,” Lacson said.
According to Lacson, Halili revealed to him the identity of the former general.
The senator, however, did not say who it was.
Lacson’s pronouncements confirmed the statement of Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde about Halili having a dispute with a former general before he was killed.
Albayalde, however, said that the former general could not be considered a person of interest as this was still being investigated.
The police have said that so far, they were looking into politics, Halili’s shame campaign, and his alleged involvement in illegal drug activities as possible motives behind his killing.
