(Eagle News)– Senator Panfilo Lacson said a “less bloody, more transparent drug campaign” will be possible this year with “more vigor and enthusiasm.”

In his Twitter post, Lacson also said “much improved, more dedicated intelligence work” was also needed.

President Rodrigo Duterte came under fire for what critics said was his bloody war on drugs led by the Philippine National Police.

In response, Duterte issued a directive giving the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, a civilian agency, the sole authority to conduct drug operations.

But a spike in crimes prompted Duterte to give the PNP a role in the war onc again.

The PDEA, however, retained its lead role.
