MANILA, Philippines — Continuous heavy rains in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon prompted the country’s weather bureau to raise the “red” rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan and Laguna, which meant that severe flooding is expected in these areas.
In its heavy rainfall warning number 6 issued at 9 a.m. today, PAGASA already included the province of Laguna in the previous three areas (Metro Manila, Rizal and Bulacan) where the red rainfall warning signal had been earlier declared.
Zambales was also put on alert with an “orange” rainfall warning, indicating that floods also threaten the province.
The province of Bataan was also recently included in the areas placed under “yellow” rainfall warning, in addition to Cavite, Batangas and Quezon where flooding in low-lying areas are also expected.
Various areas of Metro Manila also experienced knee high to chest-high deep flood waters, particularly in some parts of Pasig City, Caloocan City, Quezon City, Manila and Marikina city. In some areas of San Mateo, Rizal, flood waters are even higher than this, according to some residents.
