(Eagle News)—The Lakas CMD has revoked its nomination of Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo, who is seeking reelection in the 2019 electons.
The revocation came after Baldo was tagged as the mastermind in the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe, who had announced plans of running for the post of Daraga mayor.
“Violence in any form and for whatever reason has no place in our democratic institutions,” a statement from Lakas CMD said.
Baldo has been charged with double murder and six counts of frustrated murder in the attack in December 2018 that also left Batocabe’s security escort, SP01 Orlando Diaz dead and six others injured.
Apart from Baldo, six suspects he allegedly recruited to carry out the assassination plot were charged.
Of those charged, only Baldo remains at large.
Batocabe’s family has deferred announcing his replacement in the 2019 polls, citing security reasons.
