Bodyguard survives
(Eagle News)~Laoag Vice Mayor Michael Fariñas was killed in a car crash on Wednesday, June 6.
The nephew of House Majority Leader Rudy Fariñas was driving a black Mercedes Benz V8 Biturbo on a bypass road in Laoag when he lost control of the vehicle at 5:45 p.m.
The vice mayor’s vehicle rammed into a concrete barrier and then leapt into a ricefield.
He and his security detail, P02 Melchor Geronimo, were rushed to Gov. Roque Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital.
Geronimo survived but the vice mayor was pronounced dead by the attending physician.
