MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Lawmakers sought to calm the public on President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of a state of lawlessness nationwide, following the deadly bombing in Davao City that killed 14 people and injured scores of others.
Sen. Francis Escudero said there is nothing to fear because it has no effect on civil liberties or rights under the bill of rights. He said, it has no effect on the everyday lives of countrymen except for the increased presence of soldiers.
