Updated: AFP spokesperson explains military respected Marcoses’ request for secrecy

(Eagle News) — The spokesperson of the Armed Forces of the Philipines said the preparations for the burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos have long been done, and that it was only continued after the Supreme Court finally allowed the burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

AFP spokesperson Restituto Padilla said the military just followed procedures since they received no information of any pending motion for reconsideration about the issue with the high court.   The high court issued its ruling lifting the previous status quo order ante order on the Marcos burial on November 8.

Padilla also explained that they had to respect the wish for secrecy and confidentiality of the Marcos family regarding the Marcos burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani where the late President was given full military honors befitting any soldier.
