QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — House Sergeant-at-Arms Roland Detabali has said they would heighten security measures in the Lower House, as he revealed they were monitoring “minor threats” slated on President Rodrigo Duterte’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 24.
“Definitely meron (threat), pero not very serious. Panggulo lang..,” Detabali said in a press conference.
Asked to clarify, he said, “As of now, ‘yung protesters pa lang ang natanggap namin but we are planning ahead.”
He noted that President Duterte had done “a lot” in the fight against drugs and criminality.
“Maraming nawala sa kanila (drug syndicates) na pera at mga tao. Eh magbayad lang sila siguro, baka may mga sira ang ulo na mag-volunteer para gumawa ng gulo. So ‘yan ang pinaghahandaan natin,” he said.
“Definitely ‘yung security measures na gagawin ngayon mas heightened not only because of the current ISIS-backed [Maute group] and ‘yung martial law..,” Detabali added.
