(Eagle News) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has allowed Transport Network Companies to impose a P2 per minute of travel time charge on their passengers as part of the TNCs’ fare structure.
In lifting the suspension on the imposition of the charge, the LTFRB, through Memorandum 2018-019, said there was a “need to rationalize and adjust the fare structure for (Transport Network Vehicle Services) in order to maintain its viability.”
The LTFRB said the P2 per minute of travel time charge shall apply to all types of TNVS.
It said the electronic receipt issued by the TNCs “shall be unbundled to show the breakdown of the fare e.g. flagdown rate, per kilometer rate, travel time rate and surge price.”
“With respect to TNCs MyTaxi.ph Inc. and Hype Transport Systems Inc., the authorization granted under this memorandum circular shall be without prejudice to the final resolution of MyTaxi.ph (Grab) respondent, and Hype Transport Systems Inc.,” the memo said.
The memorandum was signed by LTFRB chair Martin Delgra III, Board Members Ronaldo Corpus and Aileen Lizada, and attested to by Executive Director Samuel Jardin.
