LTFRB mulls lifting coding scheme in PUVs, AFP aid to fix traffic woes

QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — To discourage people from buying more private cars which worsen traffic congestion, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said that it will consider lifting the number coding scheme.

LTFRB Chairman Atty. Martin Delgra III told reporters in a press conference that quote: “There should be more people on the road than cars. Once we remove colorum vehicles, we will consider lifting number coding in public utility vehicles (PUVs),”

Delgra however said that nothing is final yet and that the board will still be coordinating with concerned agencies particularly the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) before the scheme is lifted.

He meanwhile, also stressed the importance of President Rodrigo Duterte being granted special powers by the congress to address the traffic problem.
