(Eagle News) — The temporary P9 minimum fare in jeepneys plying selected areas is now in effect.
This was after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board formally released the order on the provisional hike in the National Capital Region, Region 3 and Region 4.
The order was signed by LTFRB chair Martin Delgra III, LTFRB Board Member Ronaldo Corpus and LTFRB executive director Samuel Jardin.
The LTFRB said that the provisional hike, which will take place “effective immediately,” would be in place “until full and final disposition” of the petitions for the fare increase in those areas filed by the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines, the Land Transportation Organization of the Philippines, the Alliance of Transport Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines, Inc., and the Pangkalahatang Sanggunian Manila and Suburb Drivers Association Nationwide, Inc.
The LTFRB order is a partial grant of the groups’ amended petition seeking for an increase of P2 for the first four kilometers pending resolution of those petitions for fare increase.
According to the LTFRB, all other regions with no pending petition for fare increase and prayer for provisional increase shall have no fare adjustment.
“All public land transportation services are directed to grant to qualified senior citizens utilizing their services a fare discount of not less than 20 percent of the provisionally approved increased/discounted fares upon presentation of their senior citizens identification cards,” the LTFRB said.
