(Eagle News) — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has issued a show-cause order against Grab Philippines, following PBA Rep. Jericho Nograles’ allegations it was charging riders an extra P2 per minute of travel time.
In the order issued on Wednesday, April 11, the LTFRB ordered Grab Philippines to appear before a hearing in the agency on Tuesday, April 17, at 9 a.m.
It also ordered the company to explain in writing why its certificate of accreditation as a Transport Network Company should not be suspended or cancelled within a period of five days upon receipt of the order.
“Failure on (its) part to answer in writing this show cause order within the said period from receipt hereof and to appear at the hearing of this case shall be considered as waiver on its part to be heard and this case shall be decided on the basis of the records of this board,” the LTFRB said.
On Tuesday, April 10, Nograles said Grab owed its customers P1.8 billion for its alleged charging of the extra P2 per minute of travel time on top of the P40 flagdown rate and the P10 to P14 per kilometer charge.
