Luzon grid placed under red, yellow alerts for third straight day

(Eagle News) — The Luzon grid has been placed under red and yellow alerts for a third straight day.

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said the red alert was in place from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the yellow alert from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The NGCP said the Luzon grid has an available capacity of 10,220 MW against a peak demand of 10,334 MW.

A red alert is hoisted if there is a generation deficiency.

A yellow alert on the other hand is announced if the reserves are less than the capacity of the biggest plant.

“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy later in the day,” the NGCP said.
