(Eagle News) — The Magdalo partylist has filed an impeachment complaint against President Rodrigo Duterte, saying they believed he was not fit to become the country’s chief executive.
In a press conference on Thursday, Rep. Gary Alejano said the complaint filed in the House of Representatives was based on five grounds: culpable violation of the the Constitution, bribery, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, and other high crimes.
He noted what he said was the “state policy of killing of drug offenders,” the “more than 140,000 reported killed in Davao when Duterte was mayor and his supposed employment of more than 11,000 ghost employees there, and Duterte’s bank accounts, which he said contained more than P2.2 billion.
“This was not declared in his (Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth), and also included here are his properties that he did not declare in his latest SALN,” he said.
He said they were also studying filing a “supplemental complaint” about Duterte’s supposed “secret arrangement with China, considering we have competing claims in the West Philippine Sea…and now, Benham Rise,” he said.
