(Eagle News) – A magnitude 5 quake shook Davao del Sur early Monday, Aug. 31, which was felt at various intensities in surrounding areas, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported.
In its quake bulletin, Phivolcs said that the tectonic quake in Davao del Sur occurred at 1:44 a.m. on Monday. Its epicenter was located seven kilometers southeast of Kiblawan town, with a depth of 18 kilometers. It was also recorded at instrumental intensity 5 in Malungon, Sarangani, and at intensity 4 in Koronadal City and in Tupi, South Cotabato
It was reported at intensity 3 in Koronadal City, and in Bansalan and Magsaysay, Davao del Sur, while it was reported at intensity 2 in Kidapawan City and General Santos City.
Phivolcs also recorded the following instrumental intensities, aside from the others mentioned above:
Intensity 3 – General Santos City; Alabel, Sarangani
Intensity 2 – Kiamba, Sarangani
Phivolcs said it is expecting aftershocks, as well as damage due to the quake.
