MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — Malacañang on Thursday, February 16 said that it may release the transaction history of President Rodrigo Duterte after Senator Antonio Trillanes opened the revival of the issue that the President has Php 2 billion in his bank accounts.
According to Presidential Spokeperson Ernesto Abella, they will do this if really necessary.
“Not in response to grandstanding. If necessary and within the right context, due process but not just to respond to some grandstanding,” he said.
Abella also said that Trillanes was just bringing up old issues and that this was part of the noise of the political landscape.
“Basically this is old ground. It’s a rehash of the items already discussed three days before the election. Basically he (Trillanes) is just bringing up old issues,” Abella said.
“This is part of the noise of the political landscape,” he added.
It can be remembered that before the May 9, 2016 elections, Duterte had already released certificates on the ending balance of his Bank of the Philippine Islands account, but not its transaction history.
