QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Malacañang officially released the Proclamation No. 55 or the Declaration of a State of National Emergency on Account of Lawless Violence in Mindanao, which was signed by the President last September 4 after the bloody Davao City night market bombing which resulted in 14 deaths.
The President placed the entire country under the state of national emergency due to intelligence reports of terrorists planning to attack other parts of the country including Metro Manila. The state of national emergency will remain in place until the President feels that the country is safe once more.
