Malacanang: President Aquino had not yet accepted Lacson’s “irrevocable resignation”

(Eagle News Service) — Malacanang has clarified that it had not yet accepted the “irrevocable resignation” of rehabilitation czar Panfilo “Ping” Lacson.

According to Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr., Lacson has just submitted his review of his work at the Office of the Presidential Assistant on Recovery and Management Council, including his proposal to transfer to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) his present functions.

Coloma said Malacanang would also study Lacson’s “transition proposal” which targets the passage of a law creating a department which would focus on disaster mitigation, preparation, rehabilitation and reconstruction activities.

This proposal will be reviewed by the various departments like the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Interior and Local Government, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation and Communications, and Department of Agriculture.
