(Eagle News)–Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil is the new Philippine National Police chief.
The Palace made the announcement shortly after Police Lt. Gen. Emmanuel Baloloy Peralta was designated PNP officer-in-charge.
Peralta effectively replaced Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., who ended his term as the PNP Chief on March 31.
“Ang pangarap ko, ay pangarap niyo rin. Matatag na ekonomiya, maayos na lipunan at maayos na kapulisan – ‘yan po unang kataga na sinabi ng Presidente during the inauguration. Ang masasabi ko po your Excellency, sir, matutupad po,” Marbil said in his speech during turnover ceremonies.
President Bongbong Marcos, who attended the ceremony, also expressed “full confidence and support” in Marbil, as he called for a close collaboration in addressing emerging threats, such as cybercrime, terrorism, and transnational crimes.
“We shall continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and give the finest service to our beloved citizens. Let us now ensure that the PNP will be agents of progressive transformation in the lives of our people by ensuring the safety and well-being of every community in the land,” the President said.
Marbil, the 30th PNP chief, is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991.
He was the director of PNP’s Directorate for Comptrollership prior to his appointment to the PNP chief post.
