(Eagle News) — President Rodrigo Duterte has designated Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea as caretaker of the government as the chief executive attends the second Belt and Road Forum in China from April 24 to 28.
In Special order No. 420, Duterte said Medialdea shall “take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President and …oversee the general administration of the executive department..”
Medialdea shall also “if necessary, act for or on behalf of the President except on matters in which the President is required by the Constitution to act in person” while Duterte is in Beijing, Duterte said.
Duterte said “all acts of the Executive Secretary for and on behalf of the President pursuant to this order shall be deemed acts of the President unless disapproved or reprobated by the President.”
“All departments, agencies and instrumentalities of the government shall assist the Executive Secretary in the discharge of his functions stated herein,” Duterte said.
