(Eagle News)–Motorists were met by a clean Roxas Boulevard and other Manila streets even after the Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty saw over a million people gathering there on Sunday, May 6.
This was after members of the Iglesia ni Cristo’s Society of Communicators and Networkers took it upon themselves to clean the main thoroughfare and side-streets after the 1.6-kilometer charity walk aimed at helping those in need in Africa.
Gino Labarete, vice president for communications of SCAN, said they were aided by many Iglesia ni Cristo members who earlier participated in the walk.
Pictures after the event showed bags of trash being stowed away by SCAN members, who were armed with broomsticks.
Even before the walk, participants were already reminded not to litter and to clean as they go.
“Tulong tulong po kami sa paglilinis dito,” Labarete said.
