Mental health. This is one of the more pressing issues in the workplace today. Majority of our adult life is spent in our work, with many even going beyond the mandatory eight hours a day of work.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), our experience in the workplace is one of the factors that determine our overall well-being. That’s why employers and managers are asked to promote mental health in their respective workplaces, and to support employees who have mental disorders, and ensure the health of their workers, thus boosting their level of efficiency.
Happy and contented employees often result in a positive workplace atmosphere and higher productivity. A negative working environment, on the other hand, may lead to physical and mental health problems, aside from harmful use of substances or alcohol, absenteeism and loss in productivity.
