QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Meralco will lower its electricity charges this December, citing the improving situation of the power grid last October, and the strengthening of the peso.
There will be a Php 75 reduction in the electric bills of households which consume 200 kwh, and around Php100 reduction in the household bills of those who consume 300 kwh.
For those who consume 400 kWh, expect a reduction of P151.40; and for those who consume 500 kWh, a reduction of P189.25
“The lower December rate is mainly due to a P0.3035 per kWh reduction in the generation charge,” Meralco said in a news release.
“The peso-dollar exchange rate affects around 97 percent of IPP and 60 percent of PSA charges. IPPs and PSAs each provided 44 percent of Meralco’s total requirement,” the power distributor added.
Meralco asked the public to also conserve electricity.
