QUEZON CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) — Meralco said that it will lower electricity charges this month by P0.5260 per kilowatt/hour.
This means that each customer who consumes 200 kilowatts per hour will have their monthly bill reduced by Php105, and those consuming 300kwh will have their bills reduced by Php157.80.
The lower electricity charge is brought about by lower generation charge.
The lower January rate is mainly due to a P0.5277 per kWh reduction in the generation charge,” Meralco said in a statement.
This is the second consecutive month that the company decreased its overall electricity rates, placing the total reduction at P0.9045 per kWh during the past two months.
Lower power supply agreements (PSAs) and lower charges at the wholesale electricity spot market (WESM) were seen as the factors that contributed to the lowering of the generation charge from P4.6045 per kWh in December to P4.0768 per kWh in January, according to Meralco
