Meralco will resume power supply in Metro Manila once strong winds settle down, according to Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga.
Zaldarriaga explained that Meralco choose to halt power supply in Metro Manila as the company considers safety of its personnel and the communities in the metro.
“As long as strong wind prevails in Metro Manila, we will not yet resume power considering the safety of our personnel and communities,” he said.
He mentioned that 90 percent of power supply in Metro Manila is currently down as of Wednesday morning.
He clarified that this 90 percent supply does not only come from Meralco but also from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), which is also affected by typhoon “Glenda”.
Further, Zaldarriaga said the company is now consolidating reports of Meralco electric posts that fell down and will immediately attend to these posts once situation normalizes.
Meanwhile, latest report of the weather bureau said the eye of typhoon “Glenda” has already left Metro Manila and is now lashing the province of Bataan.
