(Eagle News) — Metro Manila will implement extended curfew hours starting Aug. 6.
According to Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chair Benhur Abalos, curfew hours will be from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. as soon as the enhanced community quarantine takes effect in the National Capital Region.
The Palace has said the ECQ would last until Aug. 20.
Curfew hours in Metro Manila are at present from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
The Palace announced Metro Manila would revert to the quarantine classification after the Department of Health confirmed the local transmission of the highly contagious Delta variant in the Philippines.
The DOH has said the Delta variant could be up to 60 percent more transmissible than the Alpha variant first detected in the United Kingdom.
The Philippine National Police has tightened border controls in areas covered by the NCR Plus bubble , with only authorized persons outside of residences allowed passage.
