(Reuters) — Soldiers in Mexico have seized a military-grade arsenal in the drug-ravaged border state of Tamaulipas, authorities reported on Friday (July 07).

According to officials, dozens of high-powered rifles, grenades and grenade launchers were found by the military, including hundreds of bullets and cartridges.

The weapons haul was found in a rural area of Nuevo Laredo by soldiers on duty. No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure.

According to reports, the majority of weapons found in possession of drug gangs in Mexico have been illegally trafficked across the border from the United States. Mexico has previously called on US authorities to clamp down on the black market trade of weapons.
