(Eagle News) — Xiamen Airlines will pay the Manila International Airport Authority the amount representing damages resulting from the closure of a Ninoy Aquino International Airport runway last week after one of its planes overshot the runway.
MIAA general manager Ed Monreal said the exact amount has yet to be determined.
“Pinarating ko na po sa kanila ‘yun,” Monreal said.
On Monday, Aug. 20, the airline’s chairman, Che Shanglun, apologized for Thursday’s incident, which led to the cancellation of several flights.
The 06/24 runway was reopened on Saturday, Aug. 18, after the plane was removed and clearing operations were completed.
Che added Xiamen Airlines was fully cooperating with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Civil Aviation Administration of China to probe the cause of the incident.
