Members of the militant Group Kilusang Mayo Uno held a protest rally in front of the Meralco Kamuning Branch to stop the Manila Electric Co. from increasing electricity rates. Meralco had earlier announced an increase of 89 centavos per kilowatt hour that will be billed to consumers in April. The increase was due to higher power generation costs and related charges, according to MERALCO.
