The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Million Volunteer Run (MVR) 5 is all ready for the starting gun this Sunday, December 8. Runners from all over Metro Manila are expected to gather at the Quirino Grandstand to show support for the Red Cross in its efforts to raise funds to aid disaster-stricken communities.
“This is a run for humanity. This is your chance to make a difference in the lives of those who are greatly affected by disasters. By joining this run, you help the Red Cross help more and do more,” says PRC Chairman and CEO, Sen. Richard Gordon.
The race route starts and finishes at the Quirino Grandstand, with u-turn slots at Pedro Gil for 3K runners and Quirino Avenue for those running 5K. Please be advised that the event will temporarily close parts of Roxas Boulevard, from P. Burgos to Quirino. This temporary road closure starts from 4 AM until 7 AM.
Assembly time is 4 AM at the Quirino Grandstand. Run starts at 5:25 AM for 5K participants and 5:50 AM for 3K runners.
The rest of the chapters nationwide will also hold simultaneous runs in their respective provinces.
The event is the biggest gathering of volunteers in the Philippines with the ultimate goal of running to help the most vulnerable affected by disasters and emergencies. This year, the country has experienced a series of disasters – earthquakes, typhoons and medical emergencies such as measles, dengue and polio outbreaks. PRC has been in the frontline of these crises and is still on the ground providing the needs of those greatly affected.
