(Eagle News) — Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittanaere said she was surprised when her name was called as the winner of the 65th Miss Universe pageant in Manila.
Mittanaere ended a 63-year old title drought for France whose last Miss Universe was crowned way back 1953, Christiane Martel.
“Thank you very much, I’m very proud to bring this crown back to France. It’s true, I still can’t comprehend and realize that I am Miss Universe. But I can’t wait to go back to France to show you this crown from up close and to thank you for your full support from the beginning of this adventure. Today, I’m really proud to represent France and the universe.” Miss France and now Miss Universe Mittanaere said after the pageant.
“I’ll be a dentist in two years and I have one charity for teaching at children how to have a good hygiene but now I represent the universe and I want to do more than that,” she added.
