(Eagle News) – Miss Universe beauties, including 2017 Miss Universe Demi Leigh Nel-Peters and Miss 2016 winner Iris Mittenaere, had a tour of Manila’s tourist spots and had a taste of what the Philippine capital had to offer on Wednesday, December 6, shortly after their arrival at the airport.
The Miss Universe beauties visited historic Intramuros and Rizal Park where they also took time to see the monument of the country’s national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.
With them was the country’s bet for Miss Universe, Rachel Peters, and 11 other Miss Universe candidates.
At Fort Santiago, the beauties surprised many Filipinos, including students on a field trip visiting the historical place.
Many tried to have their “selfies” and “groupies” with the beauty queens, even though security was tight.
The candidates were, nonetheless overwhelmed and touched with the warm welcome they got from Filipinos, and were excited to see more of the country.
They are set to visit Camiguin, Bohol, Vigan and Batanes as part of their activities with the Department of Tourism.
They will also walk the runway in a fashion show on Saturday, Dec. 9. (with a video report from Jerold Tagbo, Eagle News Service)
