(Eagle News) — The 14-year-old companion of slain teenager Carl Angelo Arnaiz was found dead in Nueva Ecija on Wednesday.
Supt. Peter Madria, Gapan police chief, said Reynaldo de Guzman was discovered at a creek around 11:30 a.m.
The discovery was reported to the police in the afternoon.
According to Madria, De Guzman’s head was wrapped in packing tape, and his body bore 31 stab wounds.
Madria said the boy’s body would be subjected to an autopsy.
De Guzman and Arnaiz went missing after they went out to buy midnight snacks on Aug. 18.
Arnaiz was in a morgue in Caloocan for more than a week before his relatives found him.
Caloocan police said the teenager had robbed a taxi driver, who reported the incident to patrolling policemen.
The policemen chased after Arnaiz, who they said fired at them, prompting them to retaliate.
But Arnaiz’s parents disputed the police account, noting that based on the Public Attorney’s Office autopsy results, he had handcuff marks and his eyes were swollen.
PAO also said the teenager appeared to have been kneeling when he was shot several times on the chest.
