QUEZON City, Philippines (Eagle News) — The government will violate the Philippine Constitution if it allows members of the Moro National Liberation Front, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the New People’s Army to fight the terrorists in Marawi City.
This is according to Senator Panfilo Lacson, former Philippine National Police chief, who spoke in a press briefing on Thursday.
“‘Di dapat payagan ng Pangulo na lumaban din ang NPA or MNLF or MILF doon sa mga nagsagawa ng rebellion sa Marawi City. Dapat (Armed Forces of the Philippines) at (Philippine National Police) lang natin,” he said.
“‘Di pwedeng side by side papayagan ng ating pamahalaan na makipaglaban. Napaka-dangerous noon,” he added.
Lacson also said that if the MNLF, MILF and NPA were really sincere in their offer to help fight the Maute Group, they can instead provide intelligence information.
“Alam nila ang lugar. Kung meron silang pwersa roon, mag-provide na lang sila ng intel information nang sa ganoon ay makatulong sa ating Armed Forces,” Lacson said.
“Kung ang tulong hindi sasama sa pakikipaglaban, walang involved na armas on the part of those who are offering to help, okay lang,” he added.
