Monsoon rains to persist in several parts of PHL

(Eagle News) — The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said monsoon rains are still expected in several parts of the country.

In its 7 a.m. advisory on Thursday, June 14, Pagasa said monsoon rains are expected over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Apayao, Kalinga, Batanes and the Babuyan group of Islands, while cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms were expected over Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya and the rest of Cagayan.

In an advisory issued past 7 a.m., the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Batangas and Cavite were currently experiencing heavy rains.

According to Pagasa, “strong to gale force winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Aurora province and the regions of Ilocos and Cagayan valley and its coastal waters will be rough to very rough.”

“Meanwhile, winds will be moderate to strong blowing from the southwest over Cordillera Administrative Region,” Pagasa said.
