A manifesto by the group said that it was about time Go, a long-time aide of President Rodrigo Duterte, run for a Senate seat so the President would have a staunch supporter in the Upper Chamber.

“I think for me hindi siya maaga (na pagkampanya) because we are still convincing him to run. It’s not a launch for candidacy, it’s actually convincing SAP Bong Go to run for Senate,” Andanar said in an interview with reporters.

Go has repeatedly denied he would run for a seat in the Senate, noting that he was committed to serving the President “until kingdom come.”

But only recently, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte and Go had talked about calls for him to run.

Go said he would go where the President directed him to go.
