(Eagle News)–The Manila Police District on Wednesday, Sept. 19, said reports of a bomb in the University of Sto. Tomas turned out to be a hoax.
MPD spokesperson Carlos Magno said this was as of 11:40 a.m., after members of the explosives and ordnance division conducted a panelling of the campus.
This was after members of the UST community reported a text circulating saying there was a bomb in the area.
The text message read: “Dahil di na natuloy ang aming pagsabog kahapon sa Mapua University ay itutuloy namin ito sa UST Manila sa dapit alas dose ng tanghali. Ipasa ito at mabuhay ang New People’s Army [NPA].”
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte said the government was winning the war against the Communists.
Jose Maria Sison, Communist Party of the Philippines founder, denied Duterte’s claims.
