QUEZON City, Philippines (February 15) – Of all the forms of entertainment, it is safe to say that music and movies are the most consumed by the people. Some even say that music is not just music; it’s a way of life. When it comes to movies, the saying “you are what you eat” may also apply, you are what you watch. As such, it is almost inevitable that one day, there will be music and movie streaming in social media.
Unlike before when if you want to listen to your favorite album of your favorite singer or band, you’ll have to buy it in vinyl, tape or CD copy, you can now listen to it with the use of you smart phone. Same thing goes for movies, you do not have to go to the cinema to watch a film or buy a CD copy in record stores, because it just one click, your favorite flick is right in front of you. This development is what you call streaming media.
According to an article written at www.explainthatstuff.com, streaming media is bringing music and videos on demand. It works with the power of internet using your smart phones or smart TVs. The audio and video information you download has to be compressed dramatically and substantially reduced in quality to make smaller files so it downloads in a reasonable amount of time. As the download proceeds, you can now enjoy listening to music that you love or watching the film that you are rooting for.
Aside from ITunes – which is exclusive for apple device users – Spotify is one of the most popular music streaming sites as of today. With Spotify, you get to create your own playlist, which maybe a collection of you favorite songs by downloading it. Of course it not for free, you need to pay the monthly premium which is less expensive than buying the actual album every now and then. Additionally, with it being installed to your phone, you have the liberty to listen to the songs you love anytime of the day.
Movie streaming works the same way, you’ll have to download the application, be registered and presto! You can watch your comfort films. Even television series and concert videos are being offered nowadays on some streaming sites.
It has been stated multiple times that social media is now playing a big role in our everyday lives. Even in the field of music and movies, singers, composers, record label holders as well as the artists, directors and film outfits has to go with the flow that the millennial generation is setting. Social media has given the power to each and every user to promote a certain movie or film or music that they love.
A single positive Facebook post or tweet about a song or film merits the musician or the film maker a free endorsement, for when the followers or friends of the person who posted it gave it a try to listen to the song or watch the film via live streaming, it doesn’t just add to their popularity but also to their bank accounts.
Although film and music streaming doesn’t provide the same joy when you have the physical copy of a movie or album, aside from it being practical, it is the convenience of usage that got me hooked and be one of the music and film streamer of this generation.
