PASAY City, PHilippnes (Eagle News) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Monday that NAIA expressway project is nearing completion and may be fully operational by December.
Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar said that by September, the Phase 2a project would be fully completed during a media tour to the site.
Villar added that he was confident that the traffic situation at the domestic and international airport complex in Pasay City would change with the opening of Phase 2a of the NAIA expressway project by September of this year.
Phase 2 connects Macapagal Boulevard to NAIA Terminals 1 and 2.
He added that with the help of the Department of Transportation (DOTR), they were confident that the public would soon be able to access a key phase of the NAIA expressway project that marked the commitment of President Rodrigo R. Duterte in his first 100 days in office.
Passenger traffic at NAIA has an average annual growth rate of 9.5 percent.
Traffic congestion in Metro Manila was estimated to reach Php 2.4 billion per day.
