(Eagle News) — The National Youth Commission on Tuesday, April 23, clarified there were no irregularities in the use of its funds.
NYC officer-in-charge Assistant Secretary Ronald Cardema made the statement after the Commission on Audit rapped the agency for allegedly spending almost P300,000 for meals and snacks in 2017.
“It is very clear in the (COA) report that there are no irregularities..,” he said.
He said in fact, the COA’s concerns with regard to NYC’s expenditures were already acted on based on the Audit Observation Memoranda of the audit report.
He said the COA-issued Statement of Suspensions, Disallowancess and Charges dated January 5, 2018 and April 4, 2018 for NYC also shows a zero balance where total audit suspensions and disallowances are concerned.
The agency, he added, continues to improve its systems and internal processes to ensure its compliance with COA rules.
“We call on our colleagues in the media to be more careful and make the necessary verification first and ensure that what they report are true. Positive change cannot be achieved if some media entities will continue reporting without verifying information,” Cardema said.
