(Eagle News) — Authorities on Wednesday, March 20, arrested a National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultant and a retired priest in Cavite.
Renante Gamara, 61, and Arturo Joseph Balagat from the Diocese of San Bernardino in California were nabbed after a search of their “safehouse” in Imus around 5:30 p.m. yielded two hand grenades, a 9-mm caliber gun, among others, National Capital Region Police Office director Guillermo Eleazar said.
According to Eleazar, the police had been armed with a search warrant when they conducted the operation.
Gamara had already been arrested in Las Pinas on kidnapping with murder and frustrated murder charges, but he was temporarily released in 2016 so he could participate in the peace talks in Oslo, Norway.
The two are facing criminal charges.
