(Eagle News) — The Emergency Operation center of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) is still on red alert status due to typhoon Paeng (international name Trami).
NDRRMC Spokesperson Edgar Posadas said the red alert status was not removed due to the on-going rescue operation for the missing victims of landslides in Itogon, Benguet and Naga City, Cebu.
“Naka red-alert po tayo. Ibig sabihin nandoon lahat yung essential na ahensya na magproprovide ng response. Kung hindi po ako nagkakamali ang kanila hong stand by fund dito sa bagyong Paeng ay nasa P1.4 bilyon, kasama na ho diyan yung iba’t-ibang forms ng tulong tulad ng food items at non-food items,” Posadas said in an interview over Net 25’s Agila Balita Alas Dose.
The official also assured that various government department and agencies such as Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) are also on alert and have already pre-positioned relief food packs and rescue equipment for those who will be affected by the Tyhoon Paeng.
-Typhoon Paeng weakens, continues to move slowly-
Meanwhile, the weather bureau in its advisory issued at around 2:00 PM today said typhoon Paeng has reduced its strength and continues to move slowly.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration also said that Typhoon “Paeng” may bring light to at times moderate rains over Northern Luzon until Friday, September 28.
Sea travel remains risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Visayas.
PAGASA said typhoon Paeng is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Saturday, September 29.
