(Eagle News) – The sister-in-law of a Negros Oriental town councilor who had earlier died due to COVID-19, has passed away.
She was earlier admitted at a private hospital for exhibiting flu-like symptoms, according to a report of the Philippine News Agency.
She died Tuesday, March 24, before test results on her swab samples sent for COVID-19 testing could be released. She was reported to have Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI)
Both she and her husband, the older brother of the Tayasan town councilor only identified as patient no. 39, had reportedly close contact with the town councilor. Their swab samples had already been sent to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for Covid-19 testing. Her husband is also admitted at the hospital.
So far, there are 256 persons in Negros Oriental who have manifested flu-like symptoms while more than 4,000 asymptomatic persons are under monitoring.
Negros Oriental has been placed under a state of calamity since March 17, after the COVID-19 related death of the Tayasan town councilor.
Last February, the councilor traveled to Metro Manila to attend a Philippine Councilors League convention. He also visited Greenhills in San Juan City where the first local transmission of the coronavirus was reported.
