New acting prosecutor general named

(Eagle News) — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has named a new Acting Prosecutor General.

In a statement, the Department of Justice said Senior Deputy State Prosecutor Richard Anthony Fadullon was the new officer in charge of the Office of the Prosecutor General effective June 30, 2018.

The DOJ said Fadullon would replace Makati Prosecutors Office head Jorge Catalan Jr., who resigned.

The DOJ said Fadullon, who headed the DOJ panel of prosecutors that heard the 2009 Maguindanao massacre case, would fill the post until President Rodrigo Duterte appoints a new one.

In Department Order No. 384, Guevarra said Fadullon was “authorized to discharge the powers and mandate of said office in addition to his present duties and responsibilities in accordance with existing rules and regulations.”

The DOJ said other key appointments would soon be announced. Moira Encina
