(Eagle News)– Senate Majority leader Vicente Sotto III confirmed on Wednesday (September 21) another ethics complaint filed against Senator Leila De Lima.
Sotto, chair of the Senate committee on ethics and privileges, said that he does not know who filed and has yet to read the complaint.
“That is the reason we are still in the issue of whether we have jurisdiction or not. Hopefully by next week, I’m sure all the members have already read their copies of the amended complaint,” Sotto told members of the media.
The complaint was the second to be filed against De Lima since President Rodrigo Duterte alleged her in the narcotics trade inside New Bilibid Prison.
Sotto said the new complaint will be discussed by the committee along with the first filed by lawyer Abelardo De Jesus, who based his complaint on Duterte’s pronouncements.
“I will make sure that that the letter that we received last night be – a new complaint that was filed last night – I’ll make sure that all the members get a copy, so that we can call for a hearing next week,” he added.
De Lima has repeatedly denied any involvement to the drug trade inside the national penitentiary.
